From Confused to Clear: How a Strong Brand Voice Attracts Dream Clients
I remember a conversation I had with a life coach named Marissa.
She had all the credentials. The compassion. The results. But when she came to me for help with her website, she was visibly frustrated.
“I know I can help people,” she said. “But when they land on my site or see my posts… they don’t get me. I feel invisible.”
She wasn’t alone.
Most female coaches I talk to are incredibly gifted at holding space for others—but when it comes to articulating their own gifts, they freeze. They either default to vague inspirational quotes and fluffy language that blends in, or they overcomplicate their message, trying to sound “professional.”
What’s missing?
A strong brand voice.
One that feels clear, consistent, and true to who you are. One that makes your dream clients say,
“Oh my gosh… it’s like she’s in my head.”
Let’s talk about how to find that voice—and how it can change everything in your coaching business.
What is a Brand Voice, Exactly?
Your brand voice is the tone, personality, and style behind the words you use in your business.
It’s how you say what you say.
It shows up everywhere—on your website, in your social posts, in your emails, even in your DMs.
Think about it like this: If your brand was a person walking into a room, how would she talk? What words would she use? What energy would she bring?
That’s your voice. And when it’s clear and consistent, it builds trust fast.
Why Confused Messaging Pushes Clients Away
You’ve probably seen this before. A coach’s Instagram bio says she helps high-achieving women “reclaim their power”… but her website talks about healing the nervous system… and her discovery call form is focused on burnout.
Are those all connected? Maybe. But if her messaging isn’t cohesive, the reader won’t stick around long enough to figure it out.
Confusion creates friction. And friction kills conversions.
Your dream clients are already overwhelmed. They don’t have time to interpret your message. They want to know—right away—who you help, how you help them, and why you are the coach for them.
A Clear Brand Voice Does the Heavy Lifting
When your voice is dialed in, it becomes a magnet.
Instead of explaining your work over and over, your content speaks for you. Your website makes people feel seen. Your emails feel like conversations. Your social posts stop the scroll.
And instead of attracting just anyone, you start pulling in the right people—clients who already trust you, resonate with your message, and are ready to go deeper.
It’s not about being louder. It’s about being aligned.
So How Do You Find Your Brand Voice?
Finding your brand voice isn’t about copying someone else’s style or sounding more polished. It’s about uncovering the voice you already have and giving yourself permission to use it fully.
Here’s how I guide my clients through the process:
1. Know Who You’re Talking To
Your voice should speak directly to the heart of your ideal client.
Ask yourself:
- What is she struggling with right now?
- What does she really want (not just on paper)?
- What kind of language does she respond to—soothing, bold, no-nonsense, nurturing?
When you know who she is, you stop writing to the void. You start writing to her.
2. Define Your Brand Personality
Imagine your brand as a character. Is she:
- A compassionate big sister?
- A playful best friend?
- A grounded, no-fluff guide?
Defining this gives your writing a consistent tone. You’re not guessing how to show up—you’re embodying a voice that reflects your values and vibe.
3. Pay Attention to How You Speak
Some of the best brand voice clues are already inside you.
Look through your DMs or voice notes. Listen to how you talk on coaching calls. Read your own Instagram captions aloud.
What words do you naturally repeat? What phrases light you up?
Your authentic voice isn’t something you have to invent. You just need to notice it—and be brave enough to use it consistently.
4. Create a Voice Guide (Even If It’s Just for You)
Once you know your voice, document it. Create a little cheat sheet with:
- Your brand tone (warm, bold, empowering, etc.)
- Common phrases you use
- Words you avoid
- How you speak about your offers
This helps you stay consistent across every platform—especially if you ever bring in a VA, designer, or copywriter to help you scale.
Real Talk: It’s Not Always Easy
Finding your voice takes courage.
It can feel vulnerable to stop hiding behind generic phrases and actually say what you mean. To take a stand. To sound like you.
But I promise you—when you do, everything gets easier.
You stop second-guessing every post.
You stop attracting misaligned clients.
You stop blending in.
You become recognizable.
You become trustworthy.
You become magnetic.

Remember my client from the beginning of this story?
We worked together to clarify her voice: confident but nurturing, grounded in science but emotionally connected. We rewrote her website content with messaging that sounded like her—not a template.
She sent me this note a few weeks later:
“I just booked a dream client who said, ‘I’ve been stalking your site for a week. I finally hit schedule because I felt like you knew me.’ That’s never happened before.”
That’s the power of a strong brand voice.
